The Work of Gerald Patrick
Anyone who has ever dined on Mikasa dinnerware or used Cambridge flatware most likely experienced the artistry of internationally acclaimed tableware artist Gerald Patrick. Starting out as a potter in Los Angeles, his work became well known internationally. Mikasa discovered him and for the next 30 years his name became synonymous with luxury tableware. From Mikasa work came other luxury companies including Lenox, Yamazaki, Reed and Barton and Cambridge Silversmith. Now Gerald has taken his creative energy into a new direction with the introduction of the Gerald Patrick Art Studio in Palm Springs, CA where approximately 100 of his abstract canvases, painted over the last two years since his retirement, are displayed.

Jerry’s paintings, mostly acrylics and oils, are large and abstract in nature. The works are divided into three categories: Modern, Abstract and Solids. They are brash in their use of color and form and electrifying to experience from any angle. The canvases are uniquely his own and express his

unbounded passion for this new exploration into the realm of abstract painting. Having traveled the globe many times over as the primo Tableware artist, the only flying Jerry is interested in now is seeing his artworks fly off the table and onto the walls of houses, offices, hotels

and public spaces. The studio, which he opened in June 2015, is open by Appointment Only. There will also be a series of Studio Open House events open to the public.

Jerry spends most days in his studio painting, totally immersed in this new realm of artistic expression.

When he dines out it is not unusual for him to look down and find himself eating on a plate of his own design with a familiar fork and knife as well. Yet now his glance is upward to the walls where he imagines his paintings hanging in all their glory. That day is definitely on the way.
